Gabe had his first taste of "real" food today....cereal! I don't think he quite knew what to make of it.

Unsolved Mystery
This is what I discovered at 7:55 AM this morning....
This is definitely not what Gabe was wearing when I put him to sleep last night around 8! Why was he wearing shorts? Where are his socks?
Well apparently when David got up with him around 6 he had tee teed on his pj bottoms so David put on his shorts... too funny!

"I'm No Longer Doubtful of What I'm Living For"
Happy four month birthday my sweet little man! I know I say this every month but I can't believe how quickly time is passing! This morning Daddy said to you "well Gabe you're a third of a year today" and I nearly started crying!
You've had quite a month sweet boy....
One exciting thing to look forward to this next month....football season! Mommy and Daddy can't wait to see you in all of your LSU gear cheering on the Tigers!
Happy birthday baby boy! Everyday with you is an adventure and we can't wait to see what comes next!
Love you bunches and bunches!
Mommy and Daddy
You've had quite a month sweet boy....
- You've started rolling over. It cracks me up every time you do it because once you've rolled over you look at us like what the heck just happened!
- You are all hands. You are grabbing for everything...your crab, your duck and frog on your car seat, Mommy's hair- anything and everything!
- And speaking of hands they are your favorite toy right now. They are always in your mouth! And you've become quite the little drool monster!
- You like to stand on Mommy and Daddy's legs and look all around. You're so strong!
- I can sum you up in one word- Big! It's what everyone says when they see you! You are quite the growing boy. You are in the 95% percentile for height and weight. You may only be 4 months old but you're wearing 6 months sometimes 9 months clothes.
- I'm sad to say that you've lost most of your hair. Hopefully it'll start growning back soon!
- You're still sleeping through the night from about 8:30P- 6:30A and you now sleep unswaddled.
- You are doing so well at Ms. Tammy's. I think you love all the attention you get from her and the other kids.
- You spent your first weekend away from Mommy and Daddy! You had such a fun hanging out with Monie and Pappy and visiting with Uncle Marty, Honey and Cousin Olivia!

Nite Nite
Whole Lotta Baby!
Gabe was scheduled to have his 4 month check-up with his pediatrician Monday but he's been battling diarrhea and a very bad diaper rash for the last two days so we moved up his appointment to today. The doctor said the diarrhea and rash should clear up in a few days and not to worry...easier said than done. Poor baby screams every time we change his diaper but once it's over he's back to being his happy self!
Anyway he was weighed and measured and boy oh boy is he getting big. He's now 18 lbs and 8 ounces and is 26 and 7/8 inches long! Ninety- fifth percentile on both! No wonder the first thing out of everyone's mouth when they see his is "He's so big!" Oh and just to put his size in perspective....my friend Lisa's ten month old Davis is weighing 18 pounds also!
The doctor said we can introduce rice cereal. I can only imagine the funny stories, pictures and videos that's going to bring!

This is a very common position for Gabe lately.... one hand in his mouth and the other grabbing his foot!
You can see the band aid from his shots.

Man Time
I took this video the other night. David and Gabe love to "talk" to each other when David gets home from work. They went on for much longer than the 30 seconds I filmed.... too cute!

Baptism
What a special day.... today was Gabe's baptism!
Years ago my grandma (Ma Pete) had a gown especially made for the christening of her first grandchild. Well forty-seven years later Gabe was able to wear the same gown that me and oh about 35 or so other Pitre grandchildren were baptised in. It is absolutely gorgeous!
This is (no lie) the first picture of me and Gabe taken since the hospital. Maybe I should hand the camera to someone else once in a while!
He was an angel through mass and actually slept through the baptism!
A huge thank you to our amazing families. The day was infinitely more special because you all were there with us!
What a Difference a Year Makes!

A year ago today I found out I was pregnant and let me tell you it came as a complete shock but not in the way some of you might think. David and I had been trying for a long time, a very long time to have a baby- 16 months to be exact. Sixteen months of heartache, of questions that had no answers, of numerous tests and procedures, of countless tears, of wondering if we were ever going to be parents. See now why the shock?
I remember feeling a bit strange the week leading up to discovering that baby Lanoux was on the way. I tried to convince myself I was imaging things and that I was not pregnant but by Friday morning I broke down and took a pregnancy test. I was off that day so while David was in his bathroom getting ready for work I went into my bathroom and took the test. I busied myself brushing my teeth while I waited for the results. Finally it was time to look...now I was no stranger to pregnancy tests. I had probably taken about 20 in the previous 16 months but I saw something that morning I had never seen before- 2 lines! I cannot explain the emotions that ran through me in that instant.... pure joy, disbelief, relief and love to name a few. I immediately started shaking and then came the tears. I ran to David's bathroom threw open the door and told him I was pregnant and then collapsed in his arms- shaking and crying. Poor guy was covered in shaving cream! I don't think he believed me at first so I showed him the test and then he joined in my elation!
I look at Gabe now and still can't believe that he's ours. I hope he always knows how much he is loved and how so very badly David and I wanted him. Oh great now I'm crying!
Happy August 15th everyone!

Table for Three Please
I have been trying to convince David for what seems like forever that we should go out to dinner the three of us. His response is always the same...Gabe's too young. Well tonight he FINALLY caved! We opted for George's because it's family friendly, there are lots of things for Gabe to look at and well let's face it there are few things in life I love more than a shrimp po-boy!
Gabe did unbelievably well. He cooed and laughed and stared at the celling fans while we waited for our food. Once dinner arrived he made a few noises of distress which prompted me to give him his paci. Then the strangest thing happened... he turned his head to the right and fell straight to sleep in his car seat. He has NEVER done this before! He almost always needs to be rocked to sleep but apparently as his Monie would say "he found his nap."
I think he's ready for The Chimes!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' Gabe Lanoux is Rollin'
For the past few days Gabe has been looking more and more like he's going to roll over. This evening David and I were writing in his baby book and Gabe was playing on his activity mat. You can see in the first picture he was trying hard to roll over. A few minutes later David went outside and I went into the kitchen to heat up dinner. David came inside and went to check on Gabe. Next thing I hear is David saying...
"Umm... Did you put Gabe on his stomach?"
My response "No"
David "Well he must have rolled over"
Me "No way!"
See the second pic to see what I saw when I walked in our bedroom.
Almost There...

*** I finally saw him roll over Friday, August 7th!
