We went on down to the Audubon Zoo
David and I were both off today so we decided to head on down to the Audubon Zoo. We all has a great time! Gabe especially enjoyed the petting zoo.
Gabe enjoying "Creature Feature." We got to pet a hedgehog.
Gabe wasn't thrilled about touching the snake since it meant he would have to put down his Cheerios.
David and I both agreed that watching Gabe with the goats was our favorite part of the day! David told Gabe to tell the goats hello and Gabe promptly said "Hey" and waved to the goats.

In the interest of full disclosure I'm not quite sure what this animal is, but Gabe sure did love walking up and down the deck trying to catch it.

Hello 34, nice to meet you!
I had a fabulous birthday weekend complete with lots of hugs, kisses and presents from my favorite people!
Monie and Pappy came up yesterday after the ALS walk and watched Gabe so David and I could head out on the town. We were so excited to have some alone time but of course we talked about Gabe the entire time!
Can't wait to see what 34 has in store!

Walking!
This morning we woke up bright and early and headed to LSU's campus for the ALS walk. David's bank was one of the sponsors. We had a great time supporting a wonderful cause!
I think you could probably see our shirts from space... wow that was a bright color!

And the real exciting news.... Gabe is FINALLY walking! He's been taking steps here and there for the past couple of months but within the last few days he's officially started walking EVERYWHERE! I think he kinda looks like a cross between ET and Frankenstein!

18 months... say what?
Happy 18 month birthday sweet baby boy! I cannot believe that you've reached the year and a half mark! You are just the most amazing thing Poppa and I have ever seen. Here's what you're up to...
Big, huge news.... you're finally walking! I'll admit that you had us worried for a bit but you taught a great lesson in patience!
You are getting much better about eating table food. You will ask for a "bite" anytime you see us eating something. You're a bit picky, but you probably have the 2 pickiest parents so we won't hold that against you.
You are still a great sleeper- 7:30 PM- about 7 AM. You're down to only one nap a day which usually last 2-3 hours.
You are quite the littler talker! You try and repeat just about anything we say. Your vocabulary has grown significantly!
And speaking of talking you say "Momma" or "Poppa" oh about 500 times a day!
You will also say "Hi" and "Bye" and wave to anyone and everyone you see!
You now know a number of letter sounds- a, b, g, l, m, s, t (embarrassing admission- his sitter taught him this- I didn't even know he knew them until two weeks ago)
You are now weighing 28 lbs 10 oz and measuring in at 34 inches- 90th percentile for both!
You are absolutely obsessed with trucks! It is rare that you don't have a truck or two in your hands.
Some of your dislikes- bath time, brushing your teeth, having your nails trimmed, having your hair brushed.... you are ALL BOY!

Pumpkin Pickin'
As has become our tradition, we took Gabe to University Methodist's pumpkin sale today so he could pick out the perfect pumpkin. He had the best time trying to pick up nearly every pumpkin he saw! He kept saying "ball, ball" and we kept saying "no, pumpkin." Then he would mumble something that sounded like "pu in."
We're still trying to decide on the perfect Halloween costume for Gabe... any ideas?

Church Fair 2010
We had a great time at the St. George fair again this year. Gabe is still a bit too young to enjoy the rides, but he was definitely not too young to enjoy cotton candy!

Finally the weather is cooling down a bit, and we have been taking full advantage! Gabe is currently obsessed with leaves and sticks (oh I wonder where he gets it from- Poppa perhaps?). He loves pushing them through the holes on our patio furniture. He does this over and over and over again... just look and see.

MIA
Yes, I know we've been Missing In Action. Life has been rather wild these last few weeks- CASA volunteer training, sleep overs, LSU football, fun visits with friends. I promise to return to the land of the blogging very soon, but until then enjoy a pic of Gabe as he snacks on his Cheerios!
