Surgery

It's been a long day of our little family. At 6 this morning we arrived at Speciality Surgical Center so that Gabe could have a revision circumcision surgery. Gabe was such a trooper and his momma and daddy hung in there too. David and I were able to stay with him until right up to the surgery. The whole thing lasted 20 minutes, and we quickly joined him in recovery. I had been warned that babies don't come out of anesthesia very well, but I was not prepared for Gabe's reaction. He cried and cried and just when we thought we had calmed him down he'd start up again. The nurses were so sweet and kept reassuring us that this was completely normal. We headed home around 9 AM, and Gabe was sound asleep but 9:30- thank you Tylenol with Codeine! He woke up around 11:30 like nothing had happened, and he's been his normal self pretty much since then. David and I are oh so thankful that everything went well this morning!

Gabe spent some time today doing this...

And this...

But mostly he looked just like this...

  2. I'm glad he's ok. Coming out of anesthesia is ROUGH for sure. The second time T got tubes, the nurse was amazing and explained that if we could wait long enough for her to wake up completely on her own, it would be MUCH better than trying to do it (even gently) ourselves. She was right. T still cried some, but nowhere near as violently and constantly or as long. Either way, I'm glad he is feeling better and that you all survived. (Baby surgery is WAY harder on Mommy and Daddy than on baby.)
